Tanzania Art Residency is a creative retreat and artist residency based on the outskirts of the city of Arusha, Tanzania — offering artists from around the world dedicated time, space, and inspiration to focus, reflect, and grow their practice.
Rooted in a spirit of exchange, exploration, and connection, our program blends personal studio time with opportunities to engage with Tanzania’s rich culture and natural beauty. Artists are encouraged to shape their own rhythm, supported by an environment that nurtures creativity in all its forms.
We host residents across two peaceful accommodation locations, just 10 minutes apart:
Moivaro Cob House & Studio — A rustic, nature-rich compound featuring our main studio, a shared artist house with kitchen, and a private cottage. Surrounded by fruit trees and a nearby river, Moivaro offers a grounded, inspiring setting for focused work.
Njiro Garden Residence — A lush, well-kept home with modern amenities, private rooms, a spacious shared living area, and a beautiful garden. Ideal for rest, reflection, and comfort.
While each space has its own character, the residency runs as one unified experience. Transportation is provided between sites, and all artists are part of the same creative community — joining together for studio sessions, meals, workshops, and excursions.
